WBSNW CAMERA PROGRAM
When WBSNW was initially established, our priority, and first phase of this crime prevention initiative, was to implement street patrollers, as based on statistics throughout the world, including SA, we knew that this would have an immediate impact, which proved to be the case, as our crime dropped from incidents every week, to almost zero
Unfortunately, as we are unable to cover the street patrols on a 24/7
basis, our second phase of our initiative, was to implement a camera network
system throughout our neighbourhood, where we could have our own members
logging in and viewing our community owned cameras, both on a structured basis,
ie, roster, and on an ad-hoc basis.
To implement this camera network, we reviewed existing resident’s camera
systems, identified all critical entry and exit points to the neighbourhood,
and came up with a strategy where we combined both these existing cameras, as
well as new camera installations, to create our current network system, which
now boasts some 52 active cameras, and which are available for viewing to all
registered members, and have been funded by the community.
Our initial contributors to this Camera Program, and whom we relied on
heavily during our implementation phase, were our neighbourhood sponsored armed
response company ET Rapid Response, who carried out our initial installations,
and maintenance to our camera program.
Currently our service provider to our Camera Program, for all new,
existing and maintenance is Russel Grant Security Solutions, who give us an
excellent response and service, and ensures that our cameras are up and running
24/7.
Currently, as WNSNW has expanded to include Warner Beach North, and the
Winklespruit areas, we have continued to expand this camera network, to where
we currently have 52 cameras available, and we will continue to expand, with
the end goal to ensure that we have every entry and exit point covered and
under continual surveillance.
Our current camera duties for each of our camera monitors, consist of a
monthly duty of around an hour and a half each, which is really a small
commitment, and costs you nothing. The goal of this program is to obviously
increase the number of members, to where we can carry out monitoring on a 24/7
basis.
If you can monitor cameras or would like a
demonstration first to see what it is like, then please contact us and we can
arrange a time.
All camera monitors need to be registered members
of WBSNW and must have completed the necessary documentation as indicated under
the registration page. Once signed up, we will assist you with the necessary
downloads and implementation of the camera system to either your computer or
cell phone.
